Nine Days in New England
Maine has been on my bucket list for a long time and I finally flew out to see it. Since it’s one of my goals to see all 50 states, I put together a road trip that included Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut, as well. So, I got to see five more states and have now been to a total of 30. New England was everything I dreamed it would be and more. I chose to go in September, in order to skip the busy Summer and Fall Foliage seasons. I wanted to drive with less traffic and eat or drink, without waiting in line. I wanted to meet the locals in their element.

The Big Road Trip
I met up with an old friend of mine, Rob who lives in upstate New York. We hit the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday and headed up to Burlington, VT on Monday. We drove a big clockwise loop all the way up to Maine, down to Connecticut and back around to New York. All of these places were unique and amazing, but I definitely enjoyed Maine and Boston the most. Bar Harbor and Acadia were cool, but I liked Portland the best. The food was fantastic, and I loved the city and the waterfront. We walked the entire Freedom Trail in Boston and took in all of the historic places. I ate lots of lobster, drank the local beer and had the time of my life. Travel seems to expand my mind and gratify my soul. I need to somehow find the time and money for a lot more of it.
- New York – Syracuse, Cooperstown & Albany
- Vermont – Burlington & Montpelier
- Maine – Bar Harbor, Acadia NP, Portland, Old Orchard Beach, Cape Elizabeth & Kennebunkport
- New Hampshire – Portsmouth
- Massachusetts – Boston & Springfield
- Rhode Island – Providence
- Connecticut – Mystic & Hartford
The Bottom Line
It’s a big, wonderful world out there and seeing it in person is truly gratifying. The time and money spent on travel is always a sound investment for me. The return is a lifetime of glorious memories and adventures.
