Simple Practices that Lead to Wealth

Choose your Gurus Wisely

I recently joined a Mastermind group and am working my way through the course material.  This is my second mastermind group and I enjoy working with like-minded people in a motivational setting.  You can learn a lot quickly, by tapping into the experience of others who have already accomplished what you wish to learn.  You can also waste a lot of time and money if you fail to take action or if the group is poorly formed or focused.

Back in 2020, I joined my first mastermind group and I was kicked out four months into the one-year membership.  I didn’t violate the terms and conditions, nor did I upset the group in any way.  The group owner simply had political differences of opinion from me and confronted me in an ominous way, so I offered to leave the group.  I hadn’t posted anything overtly political, so I was surprised when I was singled out and targeted.  I told the guru specifically I’m a free-thinker and I form my own opinions.  I don’t allow others to think for me, nor do I allow others to censor or cancel my beliefs.  I promptly received a pro-rated refund and moved happily on my way.

Gurus who claim to be open-minded are often the most bigoted.

The New Group

The new group I joined in March is more focused on Marketing and less focused on Lifestyle.  As a consequence, the group and the material are all on the same mission, learning how to launch businesses.  This is another important group dynamic, to have a specific focus.  Groups that have a varied focus are likely to get varied results.  Groups that have a general focus are likely to attract a general audience, which reduces the synergies between members.  I am very happy with this new mastermind group and I hope it helps me to launch my new business idea.

Gurus who focus on the group, instead of themselves, generate the most success.

The Bottom Line

There are very few things more powerful than a focused group of people with the same goal.  If you can find your tribe and pour your heart and soul into your goal, your chances of success are way better than going it alone.
