Simple Practices that Lead to Wealth

A Year of Uncertainty

If I could sum up 2022 for me in one word, it would be Uncertainty.

It didn’t start out that way.  It started out awesome.  The stock market was high and rising, my new job was going great, and it looked like I was going to scratch two lifetime goals off my list.  In a short span of a couple months, the market dumped, my company ran out of funding, and it looked like the world was heading into a recession.

Blessing in Disguise

For the potential disaster 2022 could have been, it actually turned out pretty awesome.  I got extended a number of times at work and took a pay cut to have Fridays off.  This allowed me to take twelve 3-day vacations and one 9-day vacation to New England.  I also got to work from home and spend a lot of fun time with my family.

My biggest regret for 2022 is that I spent half the year worrying about getting a new job, when I should have spent that time fully enjoying my life.  I’m not at risk financially if I don’t get a job.  In fact, I could retire right now, if I wanted to live a more frugal existence.  So, I’m still not sure why I have stressed so much over getting another job.  I guess after four decades, it’s just wired into my psyche to work and provide.  I need to transform my future self into a person who prioritizes abundance and gratitude over income and finances.  Now, if I can just find a new employer who shares my values. 🙂

Happy New Year and here is to a Prosperous 2023 for everyone.

The Bottom Line

Uncertainty is never pleasant, especially for people like me who plot and plan life with a purpose.  Accepting uncertainty with optimism is a trait that must be developed, if you want to live a life of peace and appreciation.
