Life is a Gift
I’m on vacation with my family in the Sierra Nevada mountains. We’re staying in a really nice cabin in the mountains, with a wrap-around deck and a beautiful view of the forest. The coolest thing about the cabin is that it’s obvious the family who owns it has had decades of fun and memories here. When I look at the pictures on the wall in the cabin, it reminds me a lot of my own family and our many adventures together.
Time is Precious
The age progression of the people in the pictures is the most interesting thing to me. The cabin owner is much older now and the kids in the graduation pictures are all married. I even see some grandkids, who look like they are becoming adults themselves. Time flies by while people are living their lives and it goes way quicker than most expect. When I’m the cabin owner’s ‘s age and I look back through my pictures, I know I will also have a life full of fun, family, friends and adventures.
We watched the Disney movie Up last night in the cabin. It had a sad theme about the couple who never got to go on their grand adventure, because they couldn’t save up the money to go to “Paradise Falls”. By the time they finally bought the tickets when they were old, the wife was too sick to go. I have never been a high roller, but I have always set aside some money for fun and adventure. Before we could afford to rent cabins and take plane trips, we camped out in the desert. Life is way too precious to just pay bills and die.
The more money you save up, the more opportunity you have for travel and adventure.
The Bottom Line
Money can never replace the adventures and relationships in your life, but it can greatly enhance them. I could have never been able to afford to buy a beautiful cabin like this one when I was younger, but I can easily afford to rent it now. Building wealth has many purposes and one of the most important is allowing you to live a better life.
